The focus is on the value of natural diversity and its conservation as well as the active participation in practical nature conservation measures. The project provides practical know-how on how to involve parts of the population in the use and conservation of natural diversity, who often have no personal access to it.
During environmental education days and hikes through nature, participants get to know active nature conservation actors and develop ideas together with them on how to ecologically enhance urban and peri-urban habitats in their surroundings. The project groups have planted flowering meadows on fallow land and planted wooded areas with local shrub and tree species. At the same time, the project sponsors are developing educational materials during implementation that will be made available to teachers throughout Germany.
In the first phase (school year 2019/2020), 45 day-care centre children, 30 pupils and ten young adults took part in "Vielfalt findet Stadt" as participants. The educational project will run until April 2023.
